A: To put the code into your website:
A: Yes, we have upgraded the ticker system with better news, scores, schedules and reports, and also the ability for you to input your own channels. It is now a commercial venture - so if you'd like to change the appearance of the ticker, please start a subscription and insert the new code. You will then have full control over its appearance and content.
A: Images, video and audio are not yet supported. Please look back periodically to check our progress on this.
A: A web address (URL) looks something like:
www.wldcup.com/newstick/this.html
It is the name of the page or web site that you want to put the news ticker onto.
One way of finding the page address is - while you are in an Internet Explorer Browser - go to the page on which you want to put the news ticker and right click on it away from any images or flash files.
Click on where it says 'Properties' and under 'address' it will show the page address.
A: If you've paid then make sure you're putting it onto the website that you said you'd be putting it onto.
Don't try to use the source code that we use for the test ticker, that is only for the test ticker and it won't work on your site. Only use the source code that we give you when you click 'Get Code' on the myTickers page or the myParameters page.
It is usually a simple cut and paste from our 'Get Code' page onto into your web page URL.
Make sure you include all the code including the javascript code that we give you.
If you are still having problems then email: techsupport@worldsoccernews.com
A: Bandwidth is the amount of data (measured in Megabits or Gigabits) that is transferred when someone loads the ticker or 'pulls' information into it.
If for example you add your own content and you add your own news article that is extremely big (say 0.5 Mb) then if two people read it from two different tickers then the bandwidth that your ticker uses will increase by approximately 2 x 0.5 Mb = 1 Mb. Probably just a bit more because the ticker has to internally ask for this information.
A: When you set up a new ticker, select the option that allows us to automatically bill you if you go over the limit. It is only US9.95 per Gb, or, if you've already set the ticker up give our technical department a call and we can alter your payment options. If your site is particularly busy then give us a call and we can discuss a different hosting arrangement.
A: One way to reduce it is to reduce the amount of content that you show your customers. It may for instance be that you are inputting your own content and have put in a HUGE file. This means that everytime someone reads it they download this file and in doing so add to your (and our) bandwidth useage. You can reduce this problem by splitting your content into more than one channel or by reducing it.
However, having said that, we have set the excess charges at a very low level so even a hugely busy site will be paying less for bandwidth than they would ordinarily be paying for the content alone from different suppliers.
A: Its simple, the more sites that take our content, the better service we can offer. The less we charge the more sites will take it! So please tell your friends about us.
A: Then it is only for one area of your site that would be reasonably be considered a page (or section).
A: Go to your myTicker page and near the bottom there is a link where you can close your account for the ticker in question. If you have more than one ticker then make sure you have chosen the right one at the top of the page before you go to the delete button!
Be sure not to delete a channel that has content that you want to keep. Once its deleted, its gone for good.
A: No: Macs have traditionally not been very good at supporting Java applets although they are improving. Because applets crash some Macs (because of the Mac Java code rather than the applet) the easiest thing for us to do is to not serve this applet to ANY Mac. We will gradually become more specific as to which type of Mac to allow and disallow as support for Java improves.
A: You can't do this. Each ticker you buy is associated with a particular site and won't work on another.
A: No. We will not give, rent, swap or sell your email address to anyone else. We'll use it to let you know if there's more content channels introduced or other stuff directly related to the ticker. Only!
